NYSC swears in 1,454 corps members in Jigawa

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has swore in 1,454 corps members for the Batch A stream II orientation course in Jigawa.

The NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mr Jidda Dawut, who presented the corps members to Gov. Umar Namadi of the state at Gen. Yakubu Gowon Permanent Orientation Camp, on Tuesday, said they comprised 732 males and 722 females.

Dawut, who advised the corps members to distance themselves from cultisim, drug abuse, negative use of social media and other social voices, urged them to be security conscious and report any suspicious characters around them to appropriate authorities.

He also thanked the state government and people of the state for their continued support towards the successful implementation of the NYSC operations in the state.

In his remarks, Namadi, represented by his deputy, Mr Aminu Usman, congratulated the corps members on their successful completion of their various courses of study that qualified them for mobilisation for the national service.

“We, the good people of Jigawa are indeed happy to play host to you in this one year of service to our farherland,” Namadi said.

The governor further expressed the hope that the corps members would remain in the state after their service year and engage in legitimate and productive ventures.

“I’m convinced that at the end of the service year, a good number of you would see reasons why you have to stay back in this state and engage yourselves in the legitimate and productive ventures because of the first-class hospitality that the people of this state will accord to you,” the governor added.

Justice Watch News gathered that Jigawa Chief Judge, Justice Umar Sadiq, who was represented by Justice Amina Dahiru, swore in the corps members at the ceremony attended by several government dignataries, traditional rulers and other invited guests.
