No fewer than 50 students selected from Zango Government Girls Secondary School and Government Girls Arabic Secondary School, Kadawa, all in Ungogo LGA have benefited with learning materials donated by Participatory Department Initiatives (UPDI) a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) in collaboration with HH MSII SDGs funded by His Royal Highness Muhammad Sanusi II.
In a chat with Justice Watch News, after the distribution exercise, Founder and Chief Executive of Ungogo Participatory Development Initiative (UPDI), Aliyu Salisu Ibrahim said the project was designed to meet the current unemployment situation in Nigeria, especially for all for all citizens residing in Ungogo LGA, Kano State from ages 15 – 35 years.
He also said the initiative was to train and equip the unemployment youth (both male and female) with knowledge, skills, technical know-how and formal attitudes towards the establishment of entrepreneurial activities in view of reducing the unemployment rate to a minimal position.
According to the Founder of UPDI, some of the learning materials donated include; bags, dozen of textbooks, mathematical sets and pens and was targeted the neediest students among the beneficiaries.
He explained that the aim of the project was to enhancing learning, understanding and motivating students and other people around them to put more effort towards supporting them to pursue their education with seriousness and determination.
“By the way, we have across a very good opportunity with an initiative called HH MSII SDG Initiative which has been founded by His Royal Highness Muhammad Sinusi II.
“The program is aimed to enable the African teachers to develop, pilot, and scale innovative, localized and gender-responsive educational projects.
“So, this program indeed enable us with all means needed to study the actual problem and came up with innovative, a concrete idea for the solution of the challenges in the field of education especially in the Northwestern region of Nigeria.”
The Founder of UPDI, Aliyu pointed out that Ungogo Participatory Development Initiative (UPDI) in partnership with HH MSII SDGs Challenge Initiative in collaboration with One million teachers was to implement the project, Gender Equality for Better Life.
He maintained that the program was aimed at narrowing the gap to a reasonable equation between the number of boys attending schools and those of their female counterparts.
“Our goal is to increase the number of female students going to the high school, creating more a conducive atmosphere for learning, promoting the parent-teachers relationship, enhancing the quality of education and making the graduate students marketable products and many more.”
In their separate remarks, Senior Master of Government Girls Arabic Secondary School, Kadawa, Mallam Zubair Mustapha Zubair, and Malama Ramatu Muhammad, commended the NGO as well HH MSII SDG,s Initiative, funded by His Royal Highness Muhammad Sanusi II, stressing that the project will promote Girl Child Education in Northern Nigeria.
They urged beneficiaries to use the materials judiciously.
“We will monitor how you will use these materials. You should avoid being absent and late in class”
Some of the students, Fatima Yusuf, and Fatima Isyaku commended UPDI for the gesture and said the materials will provide solace as well as encouraging them to pursue their educational carrier vigorously.
