NDLEA Boss Takes Campaign to Kano

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Brigadier General Buba Marwa Retired has said that the Agency has arrested over Eight Thousands suspected drug traffickers and secured 1,800 convictions in the last 6 months across the nation.

Generall Buba Marwa Retired stated this when he led his team to Badawa Community in Nassarawa LGA Kano on awareness campaign as part the 4 days visit in Kano State.

said he chose to visit Badawa as part of his schedule to encourage them to do more in reducing demand reduction and abuse.

He also said that statistics has shown that Badawa has highest prevalence of drug consumption across the country but acccording to the Chairman the effort by the community members assist in containing the menace in the area while calling on them to do more in curtailing the menace of drug trafficking and abuse

The General lamented that the drug abuse and trafficking has transcended to all part of the country calling on all relevant key stakeholders to join hand together to fight the menace.

The NDLEA Boss enjoined people of Badawa to establish War Against Drug Abuse Committee to be headed by Village head of the community.
He explained that the committee will be saddle with the responsibility of updating the NDLEA on the drug abuse information of the area for the agency to use pro active means in fighting the menace.

He stressed the need for knowing drug status among intending couples before marriage like that of HIV and Aids, Hypatitis and the other diseases.

Earlier in his speech, the Commandant of NDLEA in Kano Isah Likita Muhd explained that the Agency is working with Communities, Civil Society Organisation, Faith Groups and Sister security agencies in the state that ground according to him the command is getting successful story in Kano.

Also speaking the Village Head of Badawa Community zakari Garba commended the NDLEA Boss for choosing to visit the community.

The Village Head further said that the Community will continue to do more in fighting the menace of drug abuse in Badawa Community and Kano state at large
