The death of Alhaji Umaru Sanda (Bakeke) a former staff of National Inland Water Ways Authority (NIWA) has been reported.
National Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), ACC Abubakar Umar, who is also a son to the deceased, made this known to Justice Watch News.

He said late Sanda died Yesterday, Thursday around 2pm.
According to him, his father, Alhaji Umar Sanda was born in 1928 and had his early Islamic education in Katcha, Niger state.
“In his quest for further knowledge, he traveled to Lokoja to seek for better understanding of Islam and the Hadith. While learning the Holy Quran, he further learned tailoring to serve as a means of livelihood.

“He was thereafter employed at the Inland Water Ways Authority which is presently known as National Inland Water Ways Authority (NIWA).” ACC Abubakar stated.
He further explained that since his retirement from active service in the year 2002, he had been involved in humanitarian services and commitment to the service of Allah.
“His demise, no doubt, is a huge loss to Lokoja community in specific and Kogi state in general.”

The National PRO NCoS Umar added that his late father has since been buried in Lokoja, Kogi State according to Islamic rites.
