The Nassarawa Local Government Legislative Council has suspended Chairman of the Council, Auwal Lawan Shuaibu (Aramposu) over the alleged misconduct and violation of office.

In a suspension letter, dated 15th of July, 2023 endorsed by eight counsellors from the eleven total number of the council, addressed to the chairman.
Some of the allegations against the chairman include: failure to observe and fully comply with check and balances spelt out in the existing guidelines and Financial regulations governing receipts and disbursement of LGA funds.
Failure to render monthly statement of income and expenditure and annual reports to the Legislative council to consider debate in order to ensure accountability and enforce the performance ethics as enshrined in the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.

Leased out internally generated revenue collection to closet friend, which is an act of nepotism.
The counsellors further alleged that the chairman absence from local governments secretariat for months and failure to execute community development projects humanitarian works at ward levels were part the grounds the councillors resolved to suspend the chairman.
Other allegations against Mr Aronposu include, interference in the affairs of the legislative council of the LG, thereby causing confusion, chaos and sabotage.

Diversion of funds approved for the purchase of official vehicle among others alleged grounds.
“By this memo you are also notified that effective from 25 July, 2023 you
cease to be the Chief Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Local Governnent to
allow for a thorough investigation,”
“You are directed to hand over to your Deputy Hon, Mu’azu Abubakar Adamu
inmediately.”

When contacted, the council chairman, Lawan Shuaibu Aramposu, denied being suspended by anybody.
He said no body served him with any suspension letter, noting that he only heard about the suspension on social media.
Aramposu denied all the allegations against him attributed the development to politics.
