Nasarawa Police Nab Fake Correctional Service Officer for Kidnapping 8-Year-Old

Two suspected kidnappers, Surajo Yusuf, 22, and Peter Samuel, 23, allegedly kidnapped an 8-year-old boy, Abdurrahman Sani, and demanded N7,000 from his father as ransom, have been apprehended by the Nasarawa State Police Command.

SP Ramhan Nansel , Police Public Relations Officer made this known in a statement.

He said on March 17, 2025, at about 1600 hours, a complaint was lodged at Mararaba A Division, Karu LGA, Nasarawa State, by one Alhaji Sani Bello, a resident of Tudun Wada, Mararaba.

“He reported that on March 15, 2025, at about 2000 hours, his 8-year-old son, Abdulrahman Sani, was abducted by unknown individuals in the Tudun Wada area of Mararaba. The abductors later contacted him via phone, demanding a ransom of ₦700,000 for his son’s release.”

“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, swiftly directed a team of police detectives to launch an immediate investigation.” SP Nansel maintained

He noted that acting on credible intelligence, officers trailed the suspects and successfully arrested the following individuals in Keffi, Nasarawa State:

He gave details of the suspects as: Surajo Yusuf, male, 22 years old, a native of Katsina State and resident of Angwan Tanko, Keffi and Peter Samuel, male, 23 years old, of Nasarawa Town.

The PPRO pointed out that during interrogation, Surajo Yusuf confessed to carrying out the abduction alone and later enlisting the assistance of his accomplice (Peter Samuel ) to keep the child, under the false pretense that the boy was his nephew.

He revealed that the victim was rescued unharmed along Nasarawa Road, Keffi, Nasarawa State, and has since been reunited with his family.

“A search of the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of various incriminating items, including:

Nigeria Correctional Service and Nigeria Immigration Service uniforms and accoutrements.

A knife, Nigeria Correctional Service identification card,  National Identity card and Three ATM cards bearing different names.”

Commending the officers for their professionalism and swift action, the Commissioner of Police reassured the public of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.

The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
