Muslim and Christian members of the Nigerian Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers, Kano State Branch, on Saturday gathered at Niger Street to seek divine intervention in response to plans by the PCN, NAFDAC, Kano State Government, Nigeria Police and others to relocate them to the Coordinated Wholesale Centre in Dangwauro day after the Federal High Court judgement, compelling them to relocate to Dangwauro Market.

The Chairman of the Association, Muhammad Musbahu Yahaya, expressed concerns that the relocation to Dangwauro would infringe upon their fundamental right to trade and potentially harm their businesses.

He emphasized the need for the Kano State Government to reconsider the relocation plans for the sake of peace.

Yahaya rebutted claims that drug patent business in Kano is predominantly controlled by Igbo people, asserting that the majority of drug patent dealers are indigenous to Kano State.

He mentioned that the Association has appealed the Federal High Court’s judgment mandating their move to the Coordinated Wholesale Centre.

Stressing that their shops would remain closed until discussions with the State Government ensued, Yahaya appealed to stakeholders for support and highlighted the financial challenges related to settling at the new market in Dangwauro.

The Treasurer of the Association, Donatus Doze, expressed concerns about the alleged control of the Kano drug market by a few individuals against the interests of the larger population.

Additionally, Alhaji Bilyaminu Yahaya, an elder in the market, described the prayer gathering as an appeal for divine intervention in response to the relocation order.
