Media, CSO Catalysts For Development In Budget Process And Implementation – Kofar Mata

The Kano State Budget and Physical Planning has described Media and Civil Society Organisation,s as a catalyst for development in budget process and implementation.

Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Kofar Mata, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry made the description in his interraction with Kano based Budget Related Journalists and Civil Society Organization,s held in the ministry.

He said the purpose of the meeting was to brainstorm as well as strengthen good working relationship.

The Permanent Secretary also said Media and CSO are partners in progress working towards achieving common goal of developing society.

 

He pointed out the era of rivalry between the ministry and duo is over.

” I’m new in the ministry that is why i invited you and rob minds to have a better understanding of your engagement with the Kano Ministry of Budget to avoid any clash. We are ready to furnish you with necessary information and guide to effectively discharge your duties without any rancour or limitations.

” Failure is not in my record, i was posted here to develop budget process in the state. I need your support and guide my door is always open for you.

” Let us establish a common goal to make Kano proud in budget process and implementation.”

In his speech, Akibu Hamisu from Budget Working Group urged the Ministry to Institutionalized and formalized the meeting.

” I assure you if this meeting formalized not only ministry of Budget, the whole Kano Ministry and MDA,s will promote Kano State scorecard in terms of health, education and welfare development.”

Akibu also urged the Permanent Secretary Kofar Mata to use his office in pursuading other Permanent Secretaries of State Ministries and MDA,s in organising such interraction with Media and CSO,s related to their mandate to strengthen a rapport and good working relationship”.

Also Speaking, Isiyaku Ahmad, Executive Director, Voice and Accountability Platform (VAP) commended the Ministry for organizing the meeting explained that the Ministry has cordial relationship with Media and CSO working in budget sector.

” Our objective is to ensure good budget process and implementation in Kano”

Ahmad stressed the need for citizens engagement in budget processes in Kano State.

” We are calling on you to ensure implementation of citizens collation during budget process”.

 

Justice Watch News Learnt that the Permanent Secretary and other Stakeholders of the meeting resolved to be conducting similar meeting every 6 months in a year to review performances of the Ministry, Journalists and CSO,s working for Budget Sector in Kano.
