Land Confiscation: NNPP Guber Flagbearer files suit against Kano Govt, Others …. Govt. Denies Allegations

Kano State NNPP Gubernatorial Candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf has filed a suit before State High Court seeking to restrain Kano state Government and four other Respondents from tempering, consficating, building developing of Sport Complex situated at Kofar Na’isa popularly known as Mahaha.

Acccording to the Originating Summon by Counsel to the Plaintiff, Barrister, Bashir Yusuf Muhammad alleged that Kano State Government has illegally allocated the land ultra vires to private individuals.

Other defendants in the suit are : Nigerian Navy Woman Association, (NNNOWA), Person Unknown, Kano State Bureau for Land Management and Attorney General.

Abba Kabir, similarly prayed the court to restrain Kano Government from allocating Western Wall of the Sani Abacha
Stadium Kano to Private Individuals.

“Whether by themselves, their agents, privies, servants, officials, representatives and or any other person or authority taking order from them from forthwith tampering, confiscating, building and or developing on the public proprieties.

The Plaintiff is also praying the court to declare the action of the defendants as illegal, null and void.

Similarly, in another suit filed by Barrister Sanusi Umar Sadiq and two others sought the court to perpetually restrain Kano State Government from tempering, consficating or developing building on six Shari’a Courts land or premises.

Acccording to the Originating Summon sighted by Justice Watch News, the affected courts Include

Upper Shari’a Gidan Maitasine, Yan Awaki, Upper Shari’a Court Yan Alluna, Upper Shari’a Shahuci, Upper Shari’a Court Goron Dutse and Upper Shari’a Court Goron Dutse,

Others are Upper Shari’a Court Kasuwar Kurmi, Upper Shari’a Court Filin Hockey.

The Plaintiff alleged that the action of the defendants denied access to Justice for Kano Citizens.

Other Plaintiffs, in the case include Barrister Usman Imam and Comrade Bello Basi.
However, in a quick response to the allegations, the State Government said.

In a quick reactions,  Kano State Government said nobody is selling or allocating anywhere as being ignorantly said by the NNPP Gubernatorial Candidate.

The Government through the Permanent Secretary Bureau for Land Management Dr Zainab Braji said what happened was that the place is still owned by Government but some portions were given to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC to build a permanent site because where they are now is a rental place.


The Permanent Secretary further explained that some portions were also given to the Nigeria Navy to build a state of the Art Hospital of their own, which would accommodate all thier Personnel across the Country.

Dr Zainab Braji hinted that, “the remaining land is designed to have a befitting sporting complex that would be used by all the Kano Youths, so who allocated or sale anything”, She queried.
