The prosecutor, Mr Ferdinand Orji, told the court that the complainant, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwu of Lento Village, Abuja, reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, Abuja, on Aug. 9.
The prosecutor alleged that four days after the defendant started work at the site, the complainant discovered that the store where materials were kept had been broken into.
He alleged that a vibrating machine valued at N112,000 and a binding wire worth N12,000 were missing.
He said that the defendant absconded after the alleged theft but was arrested after a week, at a different location.
The prosecutor said the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 288 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Wakili ordered that the surety must provide his BVN printout, two recent photographs and a valid identification card.
