Katsina Police foil bandits’ kidnap attempt, rescue victims, recover 94 rustled animals

The operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have foiled a bandits’ kidnap attempt, rescued kidnapped victims unharmed and recovered 94 suspected rustled animals.

DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Police Public Relation Officer DSP Abubakar Sadik Aliyu made this known in a statement.

He said The Katsina State PoliceCommand, under the CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, have recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and banditry in the state.

He also said, “Today, March 12th, 2025, at about 0100 hrs, information was received at the Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons, attacked Unguwar Sarkin Fulani Dutsen Dadi via Tafoki village, Faskari LGA, kidnapping residents while rustling two (2) cows, ninety-two (92) sheep, and goats in the process.”

He noted upon receipt of the report, responding promptly, the DPO Faskari Divisional Police Headquarters quickly mobilised an APC patrol team to the scene.

“The team tactically ambushed the suspected kidnappers, engaged them in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to flee the scene with various degrees of injuries, and successfully rescued all the kidnapped victims unhurt and recovered all the rustled animals.”

“Efforts are being intensified to ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects as the investigation proceeds.” The PPRO added.

The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, while commending the officers for the high level of professionalism and bravery during the daring rescue operation, urged the good people of the state to continue to cooperate with the command by providing timely and accurate information for prompt and decisive action against criminal elements in the state.
