Katsina Police Command Highlights Successes Achieved in Crime Fight

The Katsina State Command has highlighted achievements its recorded from November 1st to November 30th, 2023, in combating major crimes that have plagued the state.

Addressing Journalists at a press briefing, the Command’s Spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said during the period, the command received eighty-one (81) cases involving serious offenses including armed robbery, kidnapping, culpable homicides, cattle rustling, and others.

He also said as a result, one hundred and thirty (130) suspects have been apprehended in connection to the reported cases, with sixty-three (63) cases already charged to court.

He explained that among the arrested suspects, thirty-eight (38) were suspected armed robbers, sixteen (16), murder suspects, and nineteen (19) suspected rapists.

ASP additionally explained that, one (1) suspect in possession of illicit drugs and forty-two (42) suspects allegedly involved in offenses such as criminal force, intimidation, inciting disturbance, and belonging to gangs of brigands, have also been arrested.

He stated that the commendable efforts of the Katsina State Command extended beyond apprehending suspects.

“The command has successfully rescued sixty-nine (69) kidnapped victims and neutralized three (3) suspected kidnappers.

” During these operations, various exhibits have been recovered, including one hundred and eighty-five (185) rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, ninety (90) rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition, thirteen (13) AK 47 magazines, and fifty-seven (57) bags of maize.”

ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations, Katsina Command expressed gratitude towards the people of the state for their support and cooperation.

He urged them to continue assisting the command in its relentless fight against crime by providing crucial and timely information on criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the entire command in achieving these remarkable milestones.

According to PPRO, “These achievements reflect the commitment of the Katsina State Command to upholding law and order, ensuring the safety and security of all residents.

“The command remains steadfast in its mission to combat crime and protect the rights of every citizen.”
