The Kano State Commissioner of Police has described Journalists as partners in progress in ensuring crime free society.
The Commissioner of Police CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel gave this indication while presenting an award to the Kano Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim at Sani Abacha Stadium at the closing ceremony of Peace Novelty Match organized by the command in conjunction with an NGO, YOSPIS.

CP Usaini Gumel said Journalists have a key role to play in managing appropriate information in the fight against crime and other social vices.
He said since his assumption of office as CP in Kano, the media had contributed immensely to the success recorded so far in curtailing criminality.
Receiving the award on behalf of the NUJ, the Chairman, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim assured that members will continue to contribute in checking unwholesome activities in the society.

He then stressed the need for law enforcement agencies in the state to allow Journalists have access to information to guard against misinformation.
