Kano NSCDC Rescues 12 Human Trafficking Victims, Launches Manhunt for Principal Suspect

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano Command, has rescued no fewer than 12 victims of human trafficking en route Maiduguri to Cameroon.

Commandant Muhammad Lawal Falala made this known at a press briefing on Tuesday.

He said the victims, including males, females, and young girls, were rescued based on surveillance and intelligence reports.

“Although the principal suspect remains at large, the accomplice who provided them with shelter for the night before their journey was apprehended.”

“The command has initiated a manhunt to capture the fleeing suspect.” Falala further said.

He assured that the rescued victims will be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP), Kano Zonal Command, for further investigation, rehabilitation, counseling, and reintegration.

Commandant Falala also urged parents to be cautious of anyone persuading them to send their children to foreign countries in search of better opportunities.

Additionally, he stated, the Corps operatives apprehended Muhammad Sani, a resident of Bakin Kasuwa in Brigade, Nassarawa LGA, on suspicion of tricycle theft.

He noted that multiple complaints had been filed against the suspects.

Muhammad Lawal Falala emphasized that the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is complete.
