The Law Officers of Nigeria, Kano state Chapter has said that its attention has been drawn to a widely circulated online and media outlets misleading and fabricated report on the state of affairs in the Kano State Ministry of Justice.

Abdullahi Aminu Shams (National Vice Chairman North West and Kano State Chairman, made this known in a statement.
According to him, “We want to reiterate that such unfounded and misleading allegations of fraud against the Honourable Attorney General or any other staff in the Kano State Ministry of Justice is not true and has never been part of our persistent and long standing grievances.
He added that, “For now neither the Kano State Government under the leadership of His Excellence Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf nor the Hon. AG is owing any of our members a single penny.”
He maintained that Kano Governor never turned down any request emanating from the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
He stated that “to put the record straight our demands basically revolve around the improvement of the condition of service as enjoyed by our colleagues in the neighbouring Jigawa State or in the alternative the full implementation of the provisions of “Kano State Improved Condition of Service for the Judiciary and Legal Officers Law, 2022”, which improved and harmonized the condition of service and other employment benefits of Magistrates with that of State Counsel with immediate effect and without any hindrance.

The statement recalls that the indefinite Strike action the Lawyers intended to embark on the 4th day of July, 2025 had already been suspended owing to the interventions made by some respected key stakeholders in the State (the HoS, the Hon. A.G, the Hon. Speaker, KSHA), pending the outcome of the negotiations with the Head of Civil Service.
He noted that while the Law Officers Association of Nigeria, Kano State Chapter remains resolute, determined and committed towards championing the cause of promoting and improving the welfare of its members who remain in the active and diligent service of Kano State despite the overwhelming challenges over the years, and without prejudice to the ongoing negotiations the Lawyers will not hesitate to take further appropriate action at the appropriate time if the need arises.
