Kano Flood: Speaker Urges Government, Agencies to Address Housing, Master Plan Issues

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore has expressed serious concern over the recurrent flooding in Kano State, describing the incident as a tragedy that requires a prompt response from the Kano State Government.

The situation is characterized by uncertainty, concern, and fear as floodwater continues to rise in some parts of Kano State, largely due to the impacts of climate change.

These issues necessitate addressing housing and master plan concerns by relevant agencies in the State.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, on Friday, the Speaker sympathized with the flood victims and expressed the Assembly’s readiness for urgent intervention to provide relief to those affected.

He urged the people to remain calm stressing that the Kano State Government Assembly are working to alleviate their suffering.

Furthermore, Falgore appealed to NEMA and NIMASA to assist the flood victims during this critical time.

Falgore also advised residents of the affected areas to take precautionary measures and adhere to directives from authorities.

In just the past few weeks, several residents across different parts of Kano State have faced disastrous consequences due to heavy rainfall and flooding, resulting in the collapse of buildings and loss of lives.
