Kano Fire Service Retrieves Bodies of Two Women Who Drowned in Gezawa Puddle

The Kano State Fire Service on Wednesday confirmed the retrieval of two deceased women who tragically drowned in a puddle in Gezawa Local Government Area.

At approximately 11:15 am on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the Fire Service control room received an emergency call from the commander of the Gezawa vigilant group.

ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi (PRO) Kano State Fire Service made this known in a statement.

He said the report indicated that two female workers from a local zobo processing company had fallen into a puddle.

He noted that according to their relatives, the women had entered the water with the intention of washing themselves after finishing their work duties.

Sadly, he said this resulted in the loss of their lives.

He pointed out that a search operation had since commenced yesterday evening. Today, the Fire Service successfully retrieved the bodies of the two women, who were found unconscious.

He maintained that the have since been handed over to Police Musa Garba of the Gezawa police division.

Acccording to the statement, the Kano State Fire Service extends its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased during this difficult time.
