The Kano State Fire Service has revealed that in various disasters that occurred in Kano last month, at least 8 individuals tragically lost their lives.
PFS Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Service, disclosed this information in a statement on Monday.

He said despite these unfortunate incidents, the agency successfully rescued 20 victims of fire disasters in the state during the same period.
He stated that the fires caused an estimated damage of N21.6 million worth of properties, but the agency’s operatives managed to save properties valued at N46.7 million.
Abdullahi emphasized that the service, under the leadership of Director Alhaji Hassan Ahmad Muhammad, received calls from its 29 fire stations across the state. Throughout the month, they responded to 43 fire calls, 21 rescue calls, and 10 false alarms.

The Public Relations Officer, however reminded the general public to exercise caution when dealing with fire, especially during the harmattan period.
“It is crucial to avoid leaving unattended naked flames and ensure that children are kept at least 3 meters away from the kitchen to prevent fire incidents. Additionally, everyone is urged to comply with traffic laws to prevent road accidents.” He further stated.
