Kano: Fire destroys property worth N14.3 Million in July

No fewer than three persons have lost their lives to different disasters in Kano within the last month of July in review.

PFS Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, made the disclosure in a statement issued Saturday.

He said 8 victims of different disasters were successfully rescued in the month of July.

The PRO also said property worth N14, 350,000 Million were destroyed by fire disaster last month, noting that properties worth N31 Million were saved from fire disaster by Operatives of the service.

He revealed that the Kano State Fire Service led by its Director, Hassan Ahmad Muhammad, In the Month of July 2023, had recieved an emergency call from its 28 fire stations across the state in the month under review.

PFS Saminu categorised the call received within the period under review as: fire call, rescue call and false alarms.

He noted that the service in the last month had received 25 fire calls,11 rescue calls and 4 false.

“We will seize this opportunity to advise the general public to handle fire with care, and to avoid using Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) Cylinder in their vehicles and generators to avoid inferno, and advise motorists’ operators to look for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and it’s cylinder for more safety.

He further cautioned road traffic users to ensure strict compliance with traffic law to avoid road crashes.

PFS Saminu enjoined public to clean their drainage to facilitate free movements of water during raining season.
