The Acting Managing Director, Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) Baffa Babba Dan’Agundi says operatives of the council have seizured fake and counterfeit products worth one billion naira in 3 months.
He disclosed this during Press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Kano State Council’s Secretariat ‘Meet the Media’.
He said fake and counterfeit items conspicated include processing food, finishing food item, drug cigarette among others.

He pointed out that the council in a single day confiscated over N500 Million Naira expired cigarettes in the state.
” Cigarette ordinarily kills but consider taking expired one. It is really sad allowing expired products into our society.”
Baffa Babba stated that 9 persons have been arrested in connection to expired and counterfeit products within the period in review noting that the council has secured arrest warrant from court against 9 persons who evaded arrest.

He also said 2 Persons were convicted by court an many others offered for plea bargain as a means of attitudinal Corrections.
The Acting Managing Director decried how restaurants workers in the state don’t consider their health status as significance.
He explained that in just 3 restaurants the council were able to discovered 6 persons with hepatitis B disease which is communicable in nature.
He vowed to shut down any restaurant found a worker whichout health certificate from recognize medical institution.
He advised public to always check NAFDAC Registration Number of consumable items before use.
” KSCP will signed a MoU with NAFDAC with the view to sanitized society.
