Kano Civil Society Forum Launches Appeal Fund for Late Activist’s Family

The Kano Civil Society Forum on Sunday, initiated an Appeal Fund to support the family of Ibrahim Garba Maryam, a prominent civil society activist fondly known as I.G Maryam.

Dr. Mustapha Muhammad DAGS, the Chairman of the Adhoc Committee, stated that a prayer session was organized to seek forgiveness from Allah in honor of the late IG Maryam, aiming to set a positive precedent for Civil Society Engagements.

Dr. Mustapha DAGS further expressed that the death of IG Maryam has created a significant void within the Civil Society Forum.

He also provided the account details for the Appeal Fund under the name “Friends of the Community Act” with account number 0652146386 at GTB Bank.

Comrade Kabir Saidu Dakata, the Secretary of the Prayer Session, stated that the donation period would extend for one week.

He highlighted IG Maryam’s memory as a sincere and courageous advocate for societal development.

During the event, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), commended IG Maryam’s efforts in combating rape and supporting the development of People Living with Disabilities.

He offered prayers for Allah’s forgiveness.

Various speakers also urged the government to memorialize the late IG Maryam for his notable contributions.
