Kano Biz Mogul, Maikifi Builds Multi-Million Naira Juma’at Mosque

A Renowned Kano business magnate Alhaji Adamu Yahaya Maikifi popularly known as AY Maikifi, has single-handedly financed the construction of a grand Juma’at Mosque, dedicating it as a charitable waqf to benefit his parents, himself, family, and the wider Muslim community.

The mosque stands as a testament to his commitment towards advancing the Islamic faith.

During the unveiling of the mosque situated in Kundila, Kano Metropolis, Alhaji Adamu Maikifi declared that the mosque would not be treated as part of his personal estate for inheritance; rather, it is a gift for all Muslims.

The mosque has a capacity to accommodate over 16,000 worshipers at once, with separate sections for men and women as well as a modern Islamic school and facilities.

In his words, the maintenance of the center, including environmental hygiene and power supply, would be under the AY Maikifi Islamic Trust’s care.

Alhaji Maikifi expressed his gratitude to all Muslims who graced the opening ceremony after the mosque’s four-to-five-year construction period.

Among the distinguished guests were Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad; Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero; Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf; his Deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, Mai Bade of Gashua Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman , Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau and many dignitaries who came together to mark the auspicious occasion and offer the first Juma’at prayer in the mosque.

In his speech, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad, applauded the mosque’s modern design and the community’s commitment to promoting Islam.

He commended Alhaji Maikifi’s generous donation and called on Muslim residents to make the most of the mosque.

Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, lauded the establishment of the iconic Islamic center, vowing to initiate construction and renovation of  mosque projects across the state.

He urged other philanthropists to follow Alhaji Maikifi’s benevolent example and pledged continued support for religious leaders.

The master of ceremonies, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, introduced Professor Salisu Shehu, Sheikh Muhammad Bn Uthman, and Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad Getso as the appointed Imams of the Juma’at Mosque at the ceremony.

Thousands of Muslim believers, totaling over 20,000, convened at the mosque from early morning prayers, underscoring the significance and community impact of the  newly inaugurated religious hub.
