Jigawa Governor Breaks Record Allocates 32% Budget to Education Sector

The Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi, has emphasized his commitment to enhancing the educational sector by allocating 32 percent of the 2024 budget to education.

Speaking as a guest speaker at the Birnin Kudu Old Boys Association (BIKOBA) Annual General Meeting, Governor Namadi stated that the allocation is the highest in the country, setting a benchmark for the nation.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bala Ibrahim, the governor also mentioned that the state government will prioritize the development of Birnin Kudu Secondary School, the oldest secondary school not only in Jigawa but in Northern Nigeria.

Governor Namadi affirmed, “To demonstrate the government’s commitment, 32 percent of the 2024 budget goes to the education sector in the state. And believe me, it exceeds the universal benchmark stipulated by UNICEF.”

The president of BIKOBA, Alhaji Ja’afar Usman Muhammad, noted  that the association has resolved to address challenges such as persistent water scarcity and the provision of solar-powered lights at the alma mater.

He also highlighted the school’s notable alumni, including army generals, judges, governors, and first-class emirs.

During the event, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, representing the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, encouraged BIKOBA members to contribute towards the enhancement of the school.
