Jigawa CP orders investigation into death of woman, injury of daughter

The Commissioner of Police Jigawa State Command AT Abdullahi has directed a thorough clinical investigation to unravel the cause of the death of one Esther Adenkanla popularly known as Hadiza Nakowa Dutse.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam Jigawa Command Public Relations Officer made this known in a statement, Thursday.

He said on 15th Feb. 2024 at about 1600hrs, information at Command’s disposal revealed the Adekanla ‘f’ of opposite Awajil Filling Station Dutse, was last seen on 12th February, 2024 which made her neighbors become suspicious of her being missing, as all efforts made to reach her phone lines proved abortive.

He further said on receipt of the report, detectives from the Dutse Division swung into action and proceeded to her house, on their arrival, it was discovered that the house was locked, but the door was forced open where her body was found in the sitting room lying lifeless in a pool of blood.

“The team also observed visible cuts on her head and neck and the body has started decomposing.

“Her daughter one Christiana Michael ‘F’ age 11yrs was found locked in a store with cuts on her head too alive but unconscious.”

Both the corpse and the victim were rushed to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital for confirmation and to treat the injured daughter.” He stated.

DSP Shiisu added that she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor, noting that the corpse was conveyed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for autopsy.

He stressed that recognizing the gravity of the offence committed, the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa StateJigawa State Command, CP AT Abdullahi, has directed Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse to thoroughly investigate the incident to unravel the cause of her killing and arrest the fleeing culprits.

He also called on the good people of the area to remain calm and cooperate with the Police to ensure that, those suspects have been brought to book.

He promised that anybody found wanting would be prosecuted accordingly.
