Kano state Magistrate Court presided over by Senior Magistrate Salisu Idris Sallama has granted the sum of N200,000 bail to Councillor in Kura LGA, Maigida Sani for allegedly insulting and defaming the character of Kura Local Government Chairman, Mustapha Abdullahi.
Maigida Sani, 58, was alleged to have defamed the character of the Chairman over misunderstanding.

The allegations with acccording to prosecution contravened section 392, 393, 399 and 114 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State.
The defendant meanwhile, denied the content of the First Information Report (FIR) slammed against him.

Consquently, the defense counsel, Yusuf Mu’az Sani prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail, he said his client will not jump bail or temper with prosecution case
The counsel told the court that the defendant is presumed to be innocent, until proven guilty by the court, urging the court to excercise its descration judicially and judiciously in favour of his client.
Magistrate Sallama granted the sum of N200, 000 bail with two reliable sureties in likesum, which include Imam of Friday Mosque and any other person with sound character.
The court, similarly ordered that the court registry should verify the residence of the two sureties.
Magistrate Sallama adjourned the case to 22nd of September, 2022 for mention.
