Just In: Governor Kefas Establishes Committee to Enforce Total Motorcycle Ban in Jalingo

Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has set up a Taskforce Committee on total ban of the use of motorcycle and the control of tricycle in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Members of the committee are;

1) Police Commissioner – Chairman
2) NDLEA – Member
3) Road Safety – Member
4) NSCDC – Member
5) Chairman NURTW – Member
6) Taraba Marshall – Member
7) Secretary, HASS (SSG) – Secretary

The chairman Keke operators in Taraba State Abdullahi Bello urged members to remain calm as government set up a task force committee to control their activities.

Recalls that the state government announced the total ban of the use of motorcycle in Jalingo.

The decision commenced effective from Monday 22nd February, 2024

The Government further restricted the operations of tricycle are restricted from 6am to 8pm.

The decision was taken after an emergency security meeting presided over by the Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali on behalf of the state Governor Dr Agbu Kefas.

According to the Koku Agbu Koku, Secretary of the Security Committee, the measures was taken as the result of the sudden spike in the activities of criminals in Jalingo, the State Capital.

The statement further said Defaulters will be arrested and tried by the Mobile Court stressing that the Motorcycles and Tricycles will be confiscated and destroyed.
