Gombe is Least in Violent Crimes Says IGP

The Inspector General of Police IGP, Usman Baba Alkali, says Gombe State is one of the state in the federation that has least incidences of violent crimes in the country.

IGP, Usman Baba Alkali stated this at the opening ceremony of Gombe State Security and Peace Summit held at Government House Gombe.

He said crime is dynamic and addressing it on a sustainable basis requires innovative approaches and the buy-in of all components of society.

The Police Boss, maintained that, the Gombe State Security and Peace Summit is coming at a critical time when the Nigerian Police Force is working toward deepening the engagement concept of the community partnership in preventing violent crimes and any forms of criminalities across the country.

While launching a special security task force known as Operation Hattara, to reinforced the security artitechture in and around Gombe State, the IGP, thanked the State government for it relentless support to Nigerian Police and other security operatives in the state.

Earlier, Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, informed that, the State Security Summit is part of the government strategies of building and enhancing strategic partnerships for an effective internal security governance.

 

According to him, his administration has established Gombe State Security, Traffic and Environmental Corp GOSTEC, with the aimed to employing not less than two thousand thousand to support the statutory agencies in the maintenance of law and order in the state.

 

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of twenty brand New Hilux vehicles donated to security operatives by the Gombe State Government and presentations of awards to some important personalities in the event.
