The Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Usman, has stressed the importance of professionalism and discipline among police personnel in Gombe State.
CP Usman made the assertion at a maiden press briefing as the 22nd Commissioner of Police in Gombe state.
He issued a stern warning against corruption and incivility, urging officers to uphold the highest standards of conduct while discharging their duties.

CP Hayatu Usman emphasized the need for the police force to act with integrity and treat members of the public with respect.
He emphasized that the command would not tolerate any form of misconduct and would take appropriate action against officers found violating ethical standards.
He stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration, respect for the rule of law, and the protection of human rights.
CP Hayatu Usman acknowledged the relative safety of Gombe State but emphasized that no society is completely crime-free.
He mentioned some of the security challenges in the state, such as thuggery, farmers/herders disputes, culpable homicide, and armed robbery.
He assured the public that the police command is actively combatting these crimes

To address the rising crime rate, CP Hayatu Usman emphasized the command’s commitment to crime prevention through community policing.
He outlined measures such as round-the-clock patrols, raids on criminal hideouts, surveillance, and intelligence gathering.
He called on all officers and men of the command to brace themselves for the task ahead and urged criminal gangs to choose the path of peace and participate in the state government’s skill acquisition programs.
