The heads of security agencies in the country have assured Nigerians of a secured environment before during and after the 2023 general election.
They made the pledged in Abuja when the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Mahmood Yakubu visited the National Security Adviser (NSO), Major General Babagana Monguno (retd) in his office.
Retired General Monguno said the security agencies had been working in the last couple of months to put things in place.
The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba said they would provide a level playing ground for Nigerians to exercise their franchise.
He warned those who may want to foment trouble to have a change of mind as the Police would deal with them.
In his contribution, The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor said the armed forces would support the Police to ensure that security during elections was solid.
General Irabor pledged that his men would be professional while carrying out their duties during elections.
The INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu who said the Commission was ready for election urged leaders of various security agencies to map out a comprehensive plan for the deployment of security personnel Including their duty posts and contact details.
Professor Yakubu said the arrangement would greatly facilitate rapid response to situations that may arise in the field either on Election day or during the Collation of results.
