Kano state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social development, has inaugurated a Strategic knowledge management technical working committee, on gender based violence (GBV).
According to Bahijja Malam kabara, Public Relations Officer, Kano state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, the committee was inaugurated by the commissioner of women Affairs and Social development, Dr. Zahra’u Muhammad Umar, an event that was conducted at Aminu Kano teaching hospital.
Represented by the permanent secretary of the Ministry Dr Sa,adatu Sai’d Bala, she charged members of the Committee to work tirelessly to mitigate GBV, due to the increasing number of cases recorded in the state.
The commissioner, advised them to pay attention to other cases of Gender Based abuses, ranging from Sexual exploitation, harassment and other challenges across the state and country at large.
Dr. Zahra’u pointed out that, members of the committee were carefully selected based on their knowledge experiences as partners in supporting policies and programs aimed at uplifting the standard of living among kano citizens.
Malam Yakubu Muhammad, Director planning research and statistics, kano state Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development presented a paper on how to report the Data .
The second paper was presented by an NGO George town Global Health, Nigeria as a partner.
