The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano State Command has commenced its End of Year 2024/New Year 2025 Special Patrol Operation, with the theme “Speak Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers Than Drivers; Drive Responsibly and Avoid Overloading.”
This operation, tagged “Operation Zero Tolerance to Road Traffic Crashes,” aims at ensuring safe road use throughout the festive season. It will run from December 15, 2024, to January 15, 2025.

Kano State Sector Command, the Sector Commander, CC Umar Masa’udu Matazu, in a statement issued on Sunday, outlined the following measures undertaken to ensure safety and orderliness during this critical period:

The Sector Commander maintained that Deployment of 1,539 Personnel: 1,303 Regular Marshals and 236 Special Marshals will be strategically stationed across major routes to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and prompt response to road traffic crashes.
Operational Resources:
He added that the deployment includes 25 patrol vehicles, 5 ambulances, 1 heavy-duty tow truck, and other operational equipment, noting that Personnel will be stationed across major highways, critical road junctions, and strategic locations in the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State.
Focus Areas:
“Addressing dangerous driving behaviors such as overloading, excessive speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, dangerous overtaking, use of phones while driving, underage driving, and lane violations.

Managing traffic flow and ensuring timely rescue and assistance to victims of road crashes.” He maintained.
The Sector Commander called on road users to prioritize safety by adhering to traffic regulations and avoiding reckless behaviors that jeopardize lives.
He further urged passengers to speak up against dangerous driving practices and hold drivers accountable for their actions.

While wishing all road users a joyous Christmas and a prosperous New Year, CC Umar Masa’udu Matazu encouraged the public to collaborate with the FRSC to achieve an accident-free festive season.
