The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano State Command has joined the global community in marking the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDR), which commenced on Sunday, 17th November 2024.
CRC Abdullahi Labaran SPEO/Public Relations Officer FRSC Kano State Command made the disclosure in a statement.
He said the annual event is dedicated to honouring the lives lost to road traffic crashes, supporting victims and their families, and taking proactive actions to prevent future crashes.

He added “This year’s theme, “Remember, Support, and Act,” underscores the importance of collective efforts in addressing the impacts of road traffic crashes while promoting road safety.”
He however said to commemorate the occasion, the Command has lined up the series of activities
1. Prayer Sessions: Sunday, 17 November 2024: Special prayers were held at ECWA Church Kano to honor the departed and pray for strength for their families.

Friday, 22 November 2024: A prayer session will take place at Al-Furqan Jumaat Mosque, Kano, seeking divine intervention for safer roads.
2. Rally/Motorcade:
Wednesday, 20November 2024: A rally and motorcade will be conducted along the Kano-Zaria Road to raise awareness about road safety and the need for responsible road use.
3. Hospital Visitations:
Saturday, 23 November 2024: The Command will visit selected hospitals in Kano to empathize with road traffic crash victims, provide moral support, and encourage them in their recovery journey.

CRC Labaran Abdullahi pointed out that the Sector Commander CC Umar Masa’udu Matazu of FRSC Kano State Sector Command called on all stakeholders, road users, and members of the public to honor this day by embracing safe driving practices, avoiding dangerous driving behaviors, and actively supporting initiatives aimed at reducing road traffic crashes.
