Federal Court Restrains Kano Governor’s Commissions of Inquiry

The Federal High Court Kano presided by Justice Simon Amobeda has given an interim order restraining the two commissions of inquiry instituted by the Governor of Kano State from conducting any further proceedings until after the determination of the instant suit instituted by the  Former Governor of Kano State and current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Justice Amobeda issued “An order of interim injunction restraining the 4th and 5th Defendants/Respondents from performing the executive functions assigned to them by the Governor of Kano State in Court Rooms meant to adjudicate disputes between persons and authorities in Kano, pending the hearing and determination of the instant suit.”

The presiding Judge issued the Interim Order after reviewing the affidavit supporting the Ex Parte Application, which was sworn to by Idris Abdullahi Dawakin Tofa, a Nigerian male adult residing at No. 7 Halle Selassie Crescent, Asokoro, Abuja, FCT.

The application included annexures labeled as Exhibits A-C and a Written Address by the Applicant’s Counsel, Abdulrrazaq A. Ahmed, Esq.

The court further given the Respondents period of five (5) days from the date of receiving the court order and documents to file their response.

The Respondents in the suit are:

1. National Judicial Council
2. Revenue Moblisation Allocation And Fiscal Commission
3. Attorney-General GENEl Kano State
4. Hon.. Justice Farouk Lawan Adamu
5. Hon. Justice Zuwaira Yusuf.

Justice Amobeda consquently, fixed 28th May 2024 for hearing.
