Fagge Council Chair Cracks Down on Illegal Land Sales, Revenue Irregularities

Fagge Local Government Council Chairman Salisu Usman Masu has temporarily halted all revenue collection activities in the area pending a thorough investigation into the current revenue collection processes.

Speaking to Journalists, the Council Chairman maintained that the move aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the council’s financial dealings

He said effective revenue collection is crucial for local governments, as it enables them to finance essential public infrastructure, services, and policies.

Mr. Masu revealed that poor revenue administration can hinder the process, common challenges include inadequate database management, limited taxpayer compliance, and inefficient revenue collection systems.

He lamented the challenges facing the tax system in the local Government.

Chairman Salisu Usman Masu also revoked all illegal plot sales in the local government, emphasizing that due processes must be followed to prevent anomalies and land racketeering.

He urged contractors who abandoned their projects to return to site, assuring that the LGA has plans for swift completion.
