The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has recorded a major breakthrough in its intensified efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
SP. Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer Delta State Command, Asaba made the disclosure in a statement.
He said on 12th July 2025, at approximately 06:30 hours, operatives of the Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad, led by CSP Godwin Osadolor, tracked a group of suspected kidnappers to their hideout in Ogwashi-Ukwu, Oshimili North Local Government Area (LGA), Delta State.
He further said the team apprehended one Sanusi Abdulahi, who was found in possession of ₦5,000,000 believed to be part of the ransom received from one of their victims.
He pointed out that Investigations revealed that the gang was allegedly responsible for a spate of kidnappings in Ibusa, Ogwashi-Ukwu, Obulu-Okiti, Isele-Ukwu, Isele-Asagba, and most recently, the kidnapping of a young woman in Ogwashi-Ukwu on 9th July 2025.
He explained that ollowing the arrest, the suspect led authorities to additional hideouts in Second Deputy and Oko in Asaba, where four other gang members were also arrested. Police confirmed that investigations are still ongoing.
He pointed out, In a separate sting operation on 9th July 2025 at 08:35 hours, a crack team from the CP Special Assignment Team raided a notorious hideout along the Patani-Ughelli Expressway, near the Unenurhei axis,
He noted that the suspects, identified as Solomon Danisco a.k.a. Picolo, Nelson Jacob, Oruma Saturday, Olise Jude Precious Urhobowin, and Whisky Rufus a.k.a. Asawana, a native of Ewu community, fiercely engaged the operatives in a gun battle. During the encounter, the suspects and their accomplices sustained multiple gunshot injuries.
They were rushed to the hospital, where six suspects were confirmed dead, while two others remain hospitalized

Four (4) locally-made guns
Nineteen (19) live cartridges
