Delta Police Burst Car Snatching Syndicate, Apprehend 2 Others

The Delta State Police Command has busted a car-snatching syndicate, apprehending a suspected notorious car snatcher and two other suspects who allegedly specialize in changing vehicle chassis and engine numbers.

SP Edafe Bright made this known to Journalists on Wednesday, in Asaba, Delta State Capital.

He revealed that a total of twelve suspected stolen vehicles were also recovered from Benin City and Warri.

He added that one vehicle was sighted by a man whose Toyota car was stolen and parked in the Eku/Warri road by Oha Junction in Okpe LGA.

He explained that the Delta State Police Command swiftly mobilized patrol teams alongside members of Oha community vigilantes and chased the suspects to Army checkpoint at Orerokpe Junction and caught them.

SP Bright noted that the Master key used to carry out their crime was recovered, noting that the arrest of one led to the arrest of two other suspects in Benin City.

“The two suspects specialized in removing old chassis numbers and engine numbers and replacing them with new ones before putting the vehicles for sale and demobilizing vehicles with car trackers.” He further said.

The CP Abaniwonda Olufemi urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the command, or by visiting nearest police station.

He further added that by working together, the police and public can create a safe environment for the entire populace.
