The Kano State Govt on Thursday called additional two witnesses in the ongoing criminal case of alleged culpable homicide against Chinese national, Mr Frank Geng Quarong, who was alleged to have killed Ummulkhusum Sani Buhari in her room.
Justice Watch News, on Wednesday reports that the Prosecution Counsel led by Kano State Attoney General Barr Musa Abdullahi Lawan called mother and sister of the deceased who in their testimonies told the court what transfered between the defendant and deceased particularly on the fateful day of 16th September, 2022.
When the case resumed on Thursday for the continuation of hearing, Kano Attorney General, Musa Lawan called two more witnesses, including, Mustapha Abubakar a neighbor of the deceased and police officer, Inspector Cinda Chiwari, who investigated the case, PW3 and PW4 respectively.

In his evidence, PW 3, Mustapha told the court that he resides at Janbulo quarters in Gwale LGA, in Kano metropolis.
He said on 16th September, 2022, around 9pm when he came out from his residence he saw Mr Frank knocking the front door of deceased house.
“I met him and enquired what happened, he told me that he wanted to see Ummulkhusum.
“I pleaded with him to exercise patience that she would open the door for him. The defendant went back to his car and I saw him pressing his mobile phone”
“Not long ago I saw Mr. Quarong came out from his car and continued knocking the door of Ummulkhusum residence
The witness continued that ” To avoid being disturbed with the knocking I left to next line, few minutes after I came back I saw deceased mother came out from the house and shouting for help, ” the witness further testified.
He however said he rushed inside the house and saw deceased sisters crying and pointing at him deceased room.
He also said that he jumped through the window and saw Mr Frank on top of Ummulkhusum.
“That when I dragged him I saw him holding a knife with stained blood.”
In his testimony, the witness further said he met the deceased lying down gasping on verge of death and the blood oozing from her body.
He further maintained that he tried to lift her but couldn’t saying she was so heavy.
“I called one tea seller and urged him to come along with a doctor, he came in accompany with other people. The deceased was later took to hospital.”
He said he didn’t follow them because blood was all over his body, noting that he later heard Ummulkhusum died.

The witness under cross examination led by defence Counsel, Barrister Dan’azumi told the court that Mr Frank didn’t attempt any violence when he grabbed him. He stated that he observed that the Mr Frank dating the deceased for over a year.
Under Cross examination he also said he saw the defendant’s car at Ummulkhusum residence but not always.
He added that he was not there when the defendant got into the room of the deceased.
After his testimony, the court discharged the PW 3, Mustapha Abubakar.
Prosecution similarly called Inspector Chinda Chuwari from culpable homicide section of State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Kano.
Also in his evidence, Inspector Chuwari told the court that he has been in police job for over 22 years.
He stated that on 17th September, 2022 he was on duty when a case of culpable homicide was transferred from Dorayi Babba Police station.
According to him, “I could recall that on the 16th September, 2022, I was on duty post at the State CID when a case of culpable homicide was transfered from Dorayi Police station. The case was assigned to me as the team leader alongside two other officers.
In his testimony, Inspector Chuwari told the court that Mr Frank accepted to make his testimony freely on what transfered between himself and the deceased.
In his testimony, the PW4 told the court that the defendant told him that, the deceased got his number through her friend Asiya sometime in 2020.
“That the deceased called the defendant and told him she loved him, and from there he fell in loving her.
He also said their relationship lasted on February, 2022 when she got married to someone, a marriage that lasted for two months and got divorced.
He maintained that the relationship between the deceased and defendant continued.
“The defendant told him that on 16th September, 2022 as he usually do, at around 2100hrs he arrived at the deceased residence after he knocked at the deceased residence one of the deceased sister cameout and collected his dog and went inside the house.”
The PW 4 continued that ” The defendant continued knocking the door that lasted for 30 minutes, when mother of the deceased opened the door he entered and picked his dog and attempted to came out,” the witness told the court.
He said the deceased stopped him from going out with the dog and threatened to call police.
“That resulted into misunderstanding and the deceased slapped him on his face and bite him on left hand, he thereafter used a sharp knife which was in his possession and stabbed her instantly.
The witness under cross examination by defence Counsel, Barrister Muhammad Balarabe Dan’azumi said he visited the scene of the crime once and no finger print or forensic was administered.
He further admitted that Mr Frank didn’t attempt any violence while in custody.
Similarly under cross examination, PW4 told the court that there was similarity between what the eyewitnesses, neighbor and Frank told him about the incident.
After his testimony, the presiding judge, Justice Sanusi Ado Ma,aji discharged the witnessed and consequently adjourned the case to tomorrow, 18th, November, 2022 for continuation of hearing.
