The Commissioner of Police in Gombe, Mr. Oqua Etim, has commenced a familiarisation visit to traditional rulers in the state, in a bid to seek their support in tackling insecurity across the state.
The commissioner visited the Emir of Gombe, who is also the Chairman, Gombe Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, (III) in his palace.
In his speech, CP Etim said the visit was to familiarise himself with the traditional ruler as his capacity for being among the key stakeholders in combating activities of criminal elements across the state.
The Police Commissioner thanked the Emir for his support and collaboration with the Police and other security agencies in the state.
He discussed security issues concerning the State with the Emir, where he commended the efforts of the Royal Highness and his traditional rulers, stressing that the peace being enjoyed in the State was as a result of their commitment and cooperation with the command and other security agencies, making the State the most peaceful in Northern Eastern part of the country.
On his part, Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, applauded President Muhammadu Buhari and Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba for welfare of police in the country.
The Emir promised his palace’s readiness to continue to support and cooperate with the Police and other security agencies, to safeguard lives and property of the residents, assuring the CP of his willingness to support and continue keeping the flag flying in ensuring nothing temper with the peace enjoyed by the good people of the State.
Also on his way to the Police command headquarters CP Etim with his entourage
made an unsheduled/surprise visit to Some of the Police divisional offices in Gombe metropolitan which include Gombe division, Pantami division, State low-cost division and Gona division respectively.
Amongst his entourage during the visit are: DCP: Muhammad Lawal Yusuf DCP: Muhammad Hayatu Usman, DCP Sani Omolayi and O.C Muhammad Haruna together with the Police Public Relations Officer, Gombe State Command ASP Mahid Mu’azu Mahid Abubakar among others.
