A Kano State Upper Shari’ah Court has remanded a popular Tiktoker, Murja Ibrahim Kunya in Correctional centre for alleged indecent act, nuisance, and inciting breach of public peace contrary to section 355, 363 and 375 of Kano State Shari’ah Penal Code, 2000.
The court presided over by Mallam Haliru Abdullahi in his ruling, refused defense prayer and ordered Murja to be remanded in correctional centre for 2 weeks.
The presiding judge, Mallam Abdullahi subsequently adjourned the case to February 16th for ruling on bail application.

The prosecution Counsel, Lamido Abba Soron Dinki had earlier told the court that the defendant was arraigned on new First Information Report (FIR), and prayed the court to grant leave to be read to the Defendant.
According to the FIR, Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a 24 year old, resides at Tinshama Hotoro was sometimes conspired with one 442, Safara’u, Ummi Shakira, Danmaraya, Amude Booth, Kawu Dan sarki Samha Inuwa, Babiyan, and Ado Isah Gwanja who are now at large released obscene songs.
Abba Soron Dinki explained that Murja’s songs were amplified by miming and dancing, further alleged that Ado Gwanja was publically released the vedio.

The Prosecutor also told the court that Barrister Muhammad Ali Hamza wrote a letter of direct complaint to Upper Sharia Court Bichi, which after they investigated the case arraigned the defendant to court.
Consequently, Murja Ibrahim Kunya pleaded not guilty to the content of the FIR.
In his submission, the defense counsel, Barrister Yasir Umar Musa, prayed the court to admit her on bail pursuant to section 36 and 36 of Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended and section 168 and 172 of Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2000 of Kano State.
The Counsel added that the defendant has reasonable sureties to stand for her.
The counsel further submitted that the defendant if granted bail will not interfere with the case, stating that she is ready to abide by the provision of section 172 of the ACJL.
On his side, Lamido Abba Soron Dinki prayed the court to slate another date to allow him respond to the bail application.

The presiding Judge, adjourned the case till Feb 16 and ordered the remand of the defendant at correctional centre.
Similarly in another separate FIR, Murja was also arraigned on the allegations of injurious falsehood and defamation.
The Prosecutor alleged that Murja Ibrahim Kunya with the intention to defamed the character of one Aisha Najamu and Ashiru Idris Mai wushirya wrote on her wataspp status account in Hausa Language, some injurious and threat statements against them.
She similarly pleaded not guilty.
The Defense counsel urged the court to remand her in police custody, or Hisbah to enable them preach to her.
A prayer which was objected by the Prosecution counsel, Lamido Abba Soron Dinki.
He argued that Police is not meant for remand likewise Hisbah.
According to him, correctional centre is the best place established to keep the awaiting trail inmate, not police or any other place.
The counsel further argued that the main responsibility of Police is investigation not keeping awaiting trial inmate, he pleaded with the court to refuse the defense prayer.
