Court Restrains IGP, Others from Dissolving Kano PCRC EXCO

The Kano State High Court presided over by Justice Nasiru Saminu has restrained Ambassador Faruk A Maiyama ( National Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee PCRC) and 9 other defendants from dissolving Dr. Saleh Aliyu Jili and two other Applicants as elected executives of the Kano state Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), pending the hearing and determination of motion on notice.

in a Suit No. K/M478/2022 dated 28th day of April, 2022 Justice Saminu gave the order upon an exparte application by counsel to the Applicants, Barrister Abba Hikima Fagge.

The order reads:

“An Order of Interim Injunction restraining the Respondents their agents, servants or privies from giving effect to the purported dissolution of the Applicants ) and from carrying out such other acts in purporting to give effect to the purported dissolution of the Applicants by the 1st Respondent pending the hearing and determination of the application on Notice”

” An Order of Interim Injunction restraining the
Respondents by themselves, agents, privies, servants whosoever and howsoever from taking over the affairs of the Police Community Relations Committee from the Applicants and from recognizing themselves or any other person as caretaker executives of the Police Community Relations committee in Kano
State Command of the Police Community Relations Committee/Respondent pending the hearing and determination of the application on Notice.”

The Court similarly made an order directing all parties in suit to maintain status quo ante bellum pending the hearing and determination of the application on Notice.

The court also granting leave to the
Applicants to issue and serve the originating process and other processes of the case outside the jurisdiction of the Court and in Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“An Order of this court granting leave to the Applicants to serve the originating process in this suit and other subsequent process on the 1st Respondent by serving same on the 8th
Respondent in this suit.”

JUSTICE WATCH gathered that the three Applicants in the suit include:
DR. Saleh Jili, Chairman, Police Community Relations Comhittee[PCRC), Alhaji Bashir Haruna Kassim and Alhaji Garba G.Y.

While the ten Respondents are Amb. Faruk A. Maiyama, (National Chairman Police Community Relations Committee),
SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, (Kano Command Public Relations Officer),
Ali Hassan Tudun Bayero and Comrade
Haruna Ayagi.

Others are Ahmad Said Sufi, Alh. Tukur Garba Bichi, Ibrahim Sanusi Suleiman and
Olumuyiwa Adejobi (National Secretary, Police Gommunity Relations Committee)

1-8 Respondents being sued as Representative of PCRC.

The rest are: Commissioner of Police Kano State and Inspector General of Police.

The matter adjourned to 20th June, 2022 for mention.
