The CNG leader stressed that the group’s primary concern is to protect Nigeria’s interests, as well as those of its unborn children and women.

He urged the National Assembly to do what is right and ensure that the modifications are considered within the bounds of the law.

Chiranchi clarified that the CNG does not condemn the entire bill, but rather seeks to address specific portions that could be detrimental to Nigeria and its citizens.

“The group will continue to advocate for the necessary changes to ensure the bill serves the nation’s best interests.”

Also speaking Salisu Nuhu Muhammad, former General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), emphasizing the importance of women’s participation in driving national reform.

Muhammad commended the women for their enthusiasm and commitment to the cause, stating, “Women are not fragile, but have been defined as vulnerable; however, noted that they are the strongest.”

Muhammad emphasized that these issues are not only regional but national concerns, requiring collective action.

He lauded the women’s patriotic spirit, saying, “When challenges are made against harsh policies, it is a clear show of patriotism, championed by the north but benefiting the entire nation.”

The event marks a significant step towards empowering women to drive positive change in Nigeria. As Muhammad concluded, “It is not yet over; the National Assembly must ensure that other reforms are implemented.

Comrade Pamela Lanle, National Director of Women Affairs, stated that the meeting aimed to sensitize women and keep them informed, while also making it clear to the world that the Coalition of Northern Groups, particularly in Nigeria, is working to raise awareness about the tax reform bill.

“We want it on record that we are not entirely opposed to the reform bill,” Lanle emphasized. “However, we urge the bill’s sponsors to consider the needs of Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots level. We demand that our voices be heard and our interests be incorporated into the bill.”
