Child Protection Network in Kano Extends Eid al-Fitr Greetings, Emphasizes Child Safety

The Kano branch of the Child Protection Network (CPN) has extended felicitations to Muslim communities on the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr celebration.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Kano CPN, Muhammad Ali Mashi, and the Secretary, Hajiya Zainab Ahmad Suleiman, emphasis on the need for the safety and well-being of children during the festive season was ensured.

They further stressed the importance of safeguarding them from potential risks and dangers.

In the statement, Kano CPN highlighted the necessity to monitor the movement of children, maintain constant supervision, especially in crowded places such as marketplaces, religious gatherings, recreational centers, among others.

Eid-el-fitr: Kano NUJ Felicitates with Muslims

Muhammad Mashi and Hajiya Zainab urged parents, caregivers, and all key relevant stakeholders to prevent children from being trafficked and protect them from destitution and exploitation, particularly during the season, noting that children are vulnerable in society.

“When going out for visitation, they should be accompanied by an older sibling. They should not be allowed to accept food items from unknown persons. Also, if a child goes missing, parents should immediately report the issue to the nearest security formation, including media houses, as advised by the network.

Similarly, the Chairman and Secretary encouraged the community to be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding children, urging them to report any concerns or incidents of child endangerment to the appropriate authorities.

The network urged stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and the general public, to prioritize child protection and collaborate in creating a safe and nurturing environment for all children.

They reiterated the CPN’s commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their rights and well-being, noting that the Network is always ready to receive complaint about child abuse, molestation.
