Businessman, minor docked for allegedly receiving stolen iPhone 6

A businessman, Gospel Chukwuemeka and a minor were on Monday docked before an Upper Area Court, Karu, Abuja, for allegedly receiving a stolen iPhone six worth N245, 000.

The police charged Chukwuemeka and the 17-year-old student, with receiving stolen property.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Olanrewaju Osho, told the court that in July, the defendants allegedly received a bag of valuables which contained an iPhone six known to be a stolen property through Hajis Abubakar of no fixed address from Green View Gardens, Gudu, Abuja.

The prosecutor said the matter was reported at the Apo Police Station, Abuja.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 317 of the Penal Code.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Judge, Malam Hassan Mohammed, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

Mohammed ordered that the sureties must be residents within the court jurisdiction, while their address  must be verified by both court and Police Officer.

The Judge adjourned the case until Nov. 11, for hearing.
