The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has invalidated the judgment of the National and State House of Assemblies sitting in Kano.

The judgment had initially declared Mannir Babba Danagudi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner, while removing Idris Kawu, the elected representative for Kumbotso Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.

Today, a three-judge panel, led by Justice Tunji Oyebamuji, delivered the judgment, stating that the lower court had made a legal error by giving priority to the judgment on Idris Kawu’s certificate, despite his failure to present it before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Court of Appeal also ruled that the lower court had erred in relying on subpoenaed witnesses to deliver its judgment.

Additionally, the court upheld that Mannir Babba Danagudi had failed to present reliable and credible witnesses to justify the invalidation of Idris Dankawu’s victory in the Kumbotso Federal Constituency Election.
