The recent face off between Kano State government under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the leadership of Hisbah, a Shari’a police outlet under the same state government recieved high attention and comments from spectators within and outside Nigeria.

Governor Yusuf recently accused Hisbah’s style of operations in different joints and students private Hostels as he described it as unislamic by arresting , squeezing and combining male and female in the same vehicle which is contrary to the teachings of shari’a (Islamic law).
Governor Yusuf made the comment during a meeting with Chief Imams and other Islamic scholars from the 44 local government areas of the State recently.
To my understanding and fairness Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is right and he sends the right message to the right people at the right time as these scholars are stakeholders in their various communities.

It is also important to notify them as majority of those at the meeting are rural base Islamic clerics that help in shaping the lives of their followers.
Even though the Kano State Governor is responsible for what ever action or inaction that took place under any agency of the state government ,it seems there is communication gap between the leadership of Kano State Hisbah Board under renown Sheikh Daurawa and the Governor’s office .
To me Daurawa poetry himself as man not ready for taking corrections.
Yes as a man that many see as an expert in Islamic propagation and preaching, he need to open his mind for constructive criticism as he can not claim to be an Inland of Knowledge and righteousness.
His announcement of resignation as Hisbah Commander is not the right thing to do at this time when so much allegations are raised against the manner his men were conducting their activities, he should summoned courage to confront the challenges and fix them. If not I am to personally questioned his determination in practising what he preaches all over the media.
My advise to both Kano State Governor and Shiekh Daura is to find a solution to the Hisbah Operations problems, train the Hisbah police on the right things to do and intensify community dialogues and revive town hall meetings in communities which was initiated at the same time with Hisbah Board during the tenure of former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau.

Kano State Government under Abba Yusuf should come up with the initiatives that will empower the Young ladies roaming the streets and parks as most of them are from poverty striking families and I learned some of these girls parent rely on them for survival.
