Babangida Mobilises Stakeholders Against Emefiele

A Member representing Gwale constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Babangida Sulaiman on Wednesday called on both chambers of the National Assembly alongside States Houses of Assembly to pass a vote-of-no confidence on the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.

Hon. Yusuf Babangida in a statement in Kano that was made available to newsmen, said Kano state as the centre of Commerce in Nigeria is suffering intensely, courtesy of Mr. Emefiele

The Member explained that there is no cash in people’s pockets and hands, as well as no cash in Bank ATMs and POS Centres.

He further disclosed that systems that are supposed to enable migration to online platforms are either intruded on by cybercriminals or suffering inadequate network signal provision.

“The CSOs and NGOs must also unanimously rise and ask for Emefiele’s exit as he has led a sequence of years that have decimated our Naira, our trade and commerce, our systems and our general living conditions”

“He has built an ailing monetary system anchored on mere speculation, bogus loans and insider dealing, while consistently fuelling uncertainty and low morale for the real sector” Hon. Yusuf stressed.

Hon. Yusuf Babangida explained that, the opposition PDP has been at the fore of applauding Emefiele’s recent actions, while the leading figures of the governing APC, the party’s Presidential Candidate AsiwajuTinubu and the mass people of Nigeria have rejected the policy with vehemence.
“It is desirable to critically consider who exactly the CBN Governor is working for. As the PDP has rightly observed, the “slight extension” supposedly granted for use of old notes was muted by Atiku Abubakar, and has continued to be celebrated by the PDP” Malam Babangida said.
