Artists, Social Media Influencers, Bloggers Indespensable in Fight Against Crimes – Group

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), Dr. Nastura Ashir Shariff has described the role of artists, social media influencers, and bloggers as indispensable in the fight against the disturbing spate of crime, fermenting  the Northern part of the Country.

Dr. Shariff made the assertion at Stakeholders engagement on security challenge in Northern Nigeria, held in Kano.

He said the meeting targeted artists, social media influencers, and bloggers, emphasizing the need to create awareness about crimes and advocating for policy makers and relevant stakeholders to adopt cultural means as a new methodology to fight insecurity in Nigeria.

He lamented the significant communication gap between the people of the affected communities and the federal government.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) further revealed that research conducted by various groups indicated that security agencies are not effectively collaborating to achieve desired goals; instead, they seem to prioritize organizational objectives.

He stressed the importance of fostering collaboration among security agencies to achieve their common goals.

Additionally, he highlighted that the Federal Government’s failure to establish a comprehensive policy document has hindered its success in combating terrorism within the country.

Furthermore, he expressed confidence that the participants possess the capacity to transform the narrative around insecurity in a short period using their God-given talents.

In his remarks, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmad Hassan, a Retired Assistant Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS), emphasized the pivotal role of the participants in projecting a positive image of the Northern part of the country.

He believed that portraying a favorable image will attract investors to the region.

“It’s essential to recognize the power of social media in shaping narratives, especially when addressing national security concerns. Social media platforms have become crucial tools for communication, information dissemination, and engagement.

Many actors, actress, singers from Kannywood and social media influencers attended the meeting.
