Akwa Ibom Police Arrest Suspect in Pipeline Vandalization Attempt

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended a suspect in connection with an attempted act of pipeline vandalization in Ikot Oboron Enyin Village area.

Today, Friday, May 9, 2025, at approximately 5:05 AM, the Police received a distress call from a Marine Police Officer reporting the presence of suspected pipeline vandals at Ikot Oboron Enyin Village.

DSP Timfon John Police Public Relations Officer Akwa Ibom State Command made this known in a statement.

She said upon receiving the information, Operatives swiftly dispatched to the location. “At the scene, one suspect, Ekwere Obiowo Ernest, a 36-year-old male native of Ukam Village in the Edemeya Clan, was successfully apprehended.”

According to the PRRO, the following exhibits were recovered from the suspect:
One Fireman FGP 088EG Generator, One Filing Iron, Various types of Spanners, One Filing Machine, One Siemens Germany Tool Box, 24 Large Bolts and Nuts,
One Package of Welding Electrodes, Two pairs of Trousers (Joggers) and Two Polo Vests, Four Long Spanners, One Constructed Iron Bar and
One Food Flask containing Fufu.

She stated that other members of the suspect’s gang fled upon sighting the police.

She noted that that the incident occurred at Oborenyin Village in the Edemeya Clan.

“The arrested suspect and the recovered exhibits have been taken into custody for further interrogation.”
