The Nigeria Police Zone 14 Kano has said that the that AIG Yahaya S. Abubakar, who has been posted to Zone 14, Headquarters, Katsina, comprising of Kaduna and Katsina States Police Commands by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has assumed duty at the Zonal Headquarters in Katsina on Wednesday, 29th November, 2023.
CSP Gumbo Isah Zonal Public Relations Officer disclosed this in a statement.
He said the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Zone 14 Katsina, who is a versatile police officer, is an indigene of Uba Town in Hong LGA of Adamawa State.
He is a Member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, having attended the Senior Executive Course 44 in 2022.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB. Hons) Degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He is also an alumnus of the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force, as a member of Cadet ASP Course 17 in May, 1992.
In the course of his illustrious career in the Nigeria Police Force, the AIG has served in different parts of the country and has held several strategic positions, including: Asst. Inspector-General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi-Lagos; AIG Zone 15 Headquarters, Maiduguri; and Commissioner of Police, Yobe State.
Other positions held include Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of State CID Port-Harcourt, Rivers State; Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Legal Unit, Force CID Abuja; Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations, Kaduna State Command; and Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of the Departments of Administration in Kogi and Plateau States Commands; just to mention just a few.
The new AIG Zone 14 Katsina has also served in two (2) International Peace-Keeping Missions, including the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), where he served as a Senior Police Adviser to the Somali National Police.
He is also a member of various professional bodies, including: Member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (mni); Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria (FCIPAN); Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria (FIMCN), and a Certified Management Consultant (CMC).
He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria (FIODN), a Member of the Nigerian Bar Association (MNBA), as well as a Member of the Nigerian Army Resource Center Abuja (MNARC), among others.
He is a recipient of many Awards and Commendations for excellence and meritorious service, both at home and abroad.
The new Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 14 Katsina has enjoined members of the general public and critical stakeholders in the Security Sector to partner with the Nigeria Police Force, in sustaining the existing relative peace and security in the Zone.
He has also called for inter-agency cooperation and synergy of efforts in addressing emerging security challenges in both Kaduna and Katsina States.
While calling on members of the Public to give useful crime-related information to the Police, he assured them that such information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality it deserves, to protect the sources.
