Adamawa Assembly confirms Justice Hafsat Abdurrahman as Chief Judge

The Adamawa State House of Assembly approved and confirmed the appointment of Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman as the Chief Justice of the state.

The approval of the first woman as Chief Justice (CJ) and two others followed the consideration of the letter requesting their identification and approval by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, which was read by the Speaker of the House, Aminu Iya Abbas. Parliament on Tuesday.

Governor Fintiri appealed for their approval after the recommendation of their appointment by the National Judicial Affairs Commission (NJC).

After reading the letter, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Pwamwakeno Mackondo, stood up and presented a motion to approve the appointment.

During the debate on this, the members representing Numan, Verre, Guyuk and Demsa constituencies congratulated Governor Fintiri for sending the names of senior leaders in the judiciary to seek their approval.

After the approval of the Assembly, the Speaker of the Assembly who presided over the session ordered the Accountant of the Assembly to inform the governor of the decision reached by the Assembly in order to take the next step.

Other seniors in the Shari’a sector who have been approved are Ibrahim Wakili Sudi as the Grand Khadi of the Shari’a Court of Appeal and Audu James Balami as the President of the Court of Appeal of the Cultural Court.

It will be remembered that in September 2022, Governor Fintiri appointed Hafsat Abdulrahaman as the Chief Justice of the state.
